چکیده

Let C be a nonempty closed subset of the real normed linear space X. In this paper we determine the extent to which formulas for the Clarke subdifferential of the distance for C, de(x) := inf I/Y.rll, be< which are valid when C is convex, remain valid when C is not convex. The assumption of subdifferential regularity for d, plays an important role. When x 4 C, the most precise results also require the nonemptiness of the set PC(x):= {XEC: 11x-ill =d,-(x)}. As an interesting side result, the equivalence between the strict differentiability and the regularity of d, at x is established when .Y 4 C, PC(x) # @, and the norm on X is smooth. ‘% 1992 Academic Press, Inc.

A General Scalar-Valued Gap Function for Nonsmooth Multiobjective Semi-Infinite Programming

For a nonsmooth multiobjective mathematical programming problem governed by infinitely many constraints‎, ‎we define a new gap function that generalizes the definitions of this concept in other articles‎. ‎Then‎, ‎we characterize the efficient‎, ‎weakly efficient‎, ‎and properly efficient solutions of the problem utilizing this new gap function‎. ‎Our results are based on $(Phi,rho)-$invexity‎,...

On Optimality Conditions via Weak Subdifferential and Augmented Normal Cone

In this paper, we investigate relation between weak subdifferential and augmented normal cone. We define augmented normal cone via weak subdifferential and vice versa. The necessary conditions for the global maximum are also stated. We produce preliminary properties of augmented normal cones and discuss them via the distance function. Then we obtain the augmented normal cone for the indicator f...

Quasi-Gap and Gap Functions for Non-Smooth Multi-Objective Semi-Infinite Optimization Problems

In this paper‎, ‎we introduce and study some new single-valued gap functions for non-differentiable semi-infinite multiobjective optimization problems with locally Lipschitz data‎. ‎Since one of the fundamental properties of gap function for optimization problems is its abilities in characterizing the solutions of the problem in question‎, ‎then the essential properties of the newly introduced ...

Clarke Subgradients for Directionally Lipschitzian Stratifiable Functions

Using a geometric argument, we show that under a reasonable continuity condition, the Clarke subdifferential of a semi-algebraic (or more generally stratifiable) directionally Lipschitzian function admits a simple form: the normal cone to the domain and limits of gradients generate the entire Clarke subdifferential. The characterization formula we obtain unifies various apparently disparate res...

Variational Analysis Applied to the Problem of Optical Phase Retrieval

We apply nonsmooth analysis to a well known optical inverse problem, phase retrieval. The phase retrieval problem arises in many different modalities of electromagnetic imaging and has been studied in the optics literature for over forty years. The state of the art for this problem in two dimensions involves iterated projections for solving a nonconvex feasibility problem. Despite widespread us...
